Helping others discover joy, hold on to hope, and find God’s presence in the ordinary moments of life.
Welcome! I’m Louise Pistole, an author, speaker, and caregiver advocate who believes that even in life’s most difficult seasons, joy and hope are alive, and ordinary moments can become sacred.

My journey as a writer began with a simple but life-changing message I heard in a sermon in 2009: “Be joyful always,” from 1 Thessalonians 5:16. Those words stayed with me. They sparked a deep desire to understand joy, not simply as a fleeting feeling, but as a way of living rooted in faith, gratitude, and a heart open to God’s blessings.
I began researching joy, exploring what Scripture teaches and what life itself reveals about living with a joyful heart. After retiring in 2019, I finally had the time to bring that research, along with lessons from my own life, into a book.
The result was Discover Your Joy, published in 2021. What began as a personal journey became an award-winning book that encouraged readers to recognize the blessings, beauty, and possibilities tucked into everyday life.
I never imagined how much my own understanding of joy would be tested, and deepened, in the years that followed.
When Love Becomes a Sacred Assignment
Life took an unexpected turn when my husband, Daniel, experienced a heart attack, underwent open-heart surgery, and suffered a stroke during surgery. Our lives changed in ways neither of us could have anticipated. The future we had envisioned suddenly looked very different, and I found myself stepping into the demanding, often overwhelming role of a full-time caregiver.
I was not a nurse. My background was in accounting. Yet here I was, learning unfamiliar routines, managing daily care, navigating uncertainty, and discovering just how much love can ask of us.
Caregiving has taught me that love is not always expressed through grand gestures. Sometimes it looks like showing up when you are exhausted, tending to one more need, whispering a prayer when you have no answers, or simply remaining present when there is nothing you can fix.
It has also taught me that caregivers need care, too. We can love deeply and still feel weary. We can have faith and still struggle. We can be grateful and still grieve the life that has changed.
And we can continue searching for joy, not because our circumstances are easy, but because even in the hardest places, moments of grace remain.
These experiences inspired my book, The Sacred Assignment: Finding Joy While Caring for the One You Love. Through honest reflections on faith, love, exhaustion, hope, and the unexpected gifts hidden within caregiving, I share what I am learning along the way. My hope is to remind caregivers that they are not alone, that their work matters, and that joy has not abandoned them simply because life has become difficult.
A Heart for the Weary
My heart is especially drawn to those who spend their days caring for others, carrying unseen burdens, or trying to find their footing in an unfamiliar season of life.
I want caregivers to know that they do not have to choose between acknowledging their struggles and holding on to their faith. There is room for both tears and gratitude, both weariness and wonder, both honest questions and quiet trust.
Through my writing, speaking, and outreach, I hope to encourage people to look for the small, sacred moments that can sustain them: a kind word, a beautiful flower, a prayer whispered in the stillness, a memory that brings a smile, or a moment of peace in the middle of a demanding day.
Sometimes joy arrives like sunshine breaking through the clouds. Sometimes it is much quieter like a small blessing we might have missed if we were not looking.
I believe learning to notice those moments can change how we experience the days we have been given.

Beyond the Pages
When I am not writing, I enjoy the simple pleasures that remind me of life's beauty, including flowers, the peacefulness of the beach, and the many ways nature invites us to slow down and pay attention.
My faith is at the heart of my life and work. I am continually learning what it means to abide in God, serve with love, and trust Him through circumstances I cannot control.
I do not write from the perspective of someone who has figured everything out. I write as a woman who is still learning, still asking questions, still discovering grace, and still looking for joy in the middle of real life… sacred joy.
My Hope for You
Whether you have found your way here as a caregiver, a reader searching for encouragement, or someone longing for a little more joy in everyday life, I am honored you are here.
My hope is that you will find something in these pages that strengthens your heart, renews your hope, deepens your faith, or simply reminds you to pause and notice a blessing you might otherwise have overlooked.
You may not be able to change every circumstance you face. You may not be able to make the hard days disappear. But perhaps, even here, you can discover a moment of peace, a reason to give thanks, or a small spark of joy.
And perhaps you will discover what I continue to learn: joy is not reserved for the easy seasons of life. Sometimes it is in the difficult seasons that we learn to recognize it most deeply.
Thank you for being here. I invite you to explore my books, join me in discovering the sacredness of ordinary moments, and remember that even when the journey is hard, you do not have to walk it without hope.
Blessings of love and joy,
Louise Pistole
